Exploring The Area

Long Meadow, Paxford is well placed to explore the Cotswolds, and a full information folder is provided in your room, Christine and David are happy to share their local knowledge to help you plan your stay.

Places to eat close by include The Churchill Arms, Paxford, The Bakers Arms, Broad Campden, The Great Western, Blockley, The Ebrington Arms, Ebrington, and the Blockley Café, Blockley.

There are a huge variety of places to visit, from the numerous pretty Cotswold villages, pubs and restaurants or the history of Warwick Castle, Oxford and the Ashmolean Museum, Shakespeare’s Stratford, Blenheim Palace in Woodstock or the rolling Malvern Hills.  The beautiful gardens of Hidcote, Kiftsgate and Mill Dene are all close by, also the Arboretum of Batsford and Westonbirt.

Many art galleries and antique shops can be found in the area, particularly in Stow-On-the-Wold, Moreton-In-Marsh, Broadway and Stratford-Upon-Avon.  Local museums of interest include Broadway’s own Ashmolean and the Gordon Russell Furniture Museum.  Chipping Campden’s Court Barn Museum is worth a visit together with the Hart Silversmiths workshop.

For the more active there are many local walks, indeed Chipping Campden is the start of the Cotswold Way, and the Monarch Way passes through Blockley. There are local riding stables, golf courses and bike hire with Cotswold Country Cycles.
